PARSHALL, ND ( KXNET ) — One school was learning all about T-4, which stands for tools, trades, torque, and tech.

For the third year in a row, Parshall was hosting the T-4 summit. However, students from New Town, White Shield, Twin Buttes, Surrey, and Parshall were all there.

Butler Machinery, the Hess Corporation, RTC, Aux Sabel, and BSC were there all on hand, teaching students.

Students attended multiple breakout sessions, like putting together and taking apart pipes, simulating using heavy equipment, building a manual hydraulic, and making a light, but that was only a few of them.

“We were like practicing ultrasounds on a pregnant belly and she had like this glass belly and you would kind of looking at it and seeing all the bones weren’t put together,” said student RhiLeigh Beck of New Town.

The principal of Parshall High School, Amber Cieslik, says the summit is very unique.

“I would say we bring a different light because we bring in our culture a little bit. Other places have the T-4 event but because we integrate our MHA Nation we do our honor song, our students present the honor song with our cultural classes,” said Cieslik.

Students getting ready to graduate were able to have conversations about the different opportunities available in the real world.

“Sometimes living here and on the reservation, we don’t get to experience or have the connections to interact with some of these companies, and bringing them into our school gives these students opportunities that they might not just go out on their own and seek,” said Cieslik.

Leaders say the summit not only gives kids a chance to look at some industries locally and statewide but nationally as well.
