MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Spooky season is coming early to the Magic City, as the Minot Park District is holding its annual Pumpkin Walk.

Starting this Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m., the two main loops of Woodland Trail will be lined with lit pumpkins.

The event, happening since 2019, is expected to have close to 1,400 pumpkins on the trail and will include floating pumpkins on the Souris River next to the trail.

The pumpkin walk is about one mile long and will feature food trucks and places to take pictures.

Minot Park District Marketing Manager Madeline Knutson says the pumpkin walk has come a long way.

“First year, our goal was about 500 and I think we got about 400 pumpkins the first year, so it’s just grown exponentially the community feedback and anticipation is just so fun to see with all these businesses coming out,” said Knutson.

Knutson says more than 100 people and businesses donated pumpkins this year to the walk, and more than 20 Minot Park employees and volunteers are helping set up the event.

Knutson says the event could draw anywhere from 2,000 to 5,000 people.

“It’s a great community event because so many businesses and individuals participate and really just come together as a community to make this one of the best events I think in Minot,” said Knutson.

The Pumpkin Walk is free. Event parking will be available at Dakota Bark Park near the trail.
