    Early morning fire displaces northwest Minot residents

    MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Six residents of northwest Minot have been displaced after a fire on the morning of Tuesday, October 15.

    According to a press release from the Minot Fire Department, at approximately 4:50 a.m., team members responded to reports of fire showing from a basement window in the area of 10th Street Northwest.

    When a ladder truck arrived on the scene within five minutes, it was met with heavy flames coming from the northwest corner of the building.

    Firefighters immediately began to battle the blaze while searching the premises, where they discovered a tenant and safely escorted her out of the building. In total, four fire engines, one ladder truck, and one battalion chief responded to the scene before the fire was extinguished.

    Three tenants received medical attention on the scene. One was treated and released, another was transported to Trinity Healthy for minor smoke inhalation, and a third declined transport.

    All six building residents have been connected with the Red Cross for further assistance. All six cats in the building also survived the fire.

    The cause of the fire currently remains under investigation.
