MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — A Minot woman has now been sentenced to 25 years in prison for admitting to fatally poisoning her long-term boyfriend with antifreeze.

48-year-old Ina Kenoyer was handed down that sentence on Wednesday, October 16, and remained emotionless as the family of the man she killed, Steven Riley gave victim impact statements.

She was sentenced to 50 years, with 25 years suspended. Once released, she is also ordered to serve 10 years of supervised probation, and pay restitution.

In September 2023, Riley was brought to Trinity Hospital and was later transferred to a Bismarck hospital, where he died. The results of the autopsy determined that ethylene glycol, which is a key ingredient in antifreeze, was the cause of death.

Kenoyer had financial motives to murder, as Riley was in line to inherit over $30 million and was planning to leave Kenoyer after he received the money. However, the money had turned out to be a scam.

Kenoyer ultimately admitted that she had put antifreeze into some sweet tea she had made for Riley. She was arrested in November 2023.
