MINOT, N.D.– It seems like it was just yesterday that the Magicians were celebrating their first state championship in over 43 years, but today starts the first day of a new season and they’ll look to duplicate what they’ve done a season ago. With the MAGI coming off of that state title, they want to let the past be in the past, and only focus on the present.

“We got to focus on this season, and let last season be in our past. Obviously it was an awesome thing for us, but we have a new season ahead of us and a lot of challenges going forward and I think that we can be a pretty good team if we just focus on the next step. First day, I think our effort was great. Obviously everyone’s was goin to be a little rusty and have to refresh their mind to the play book, but the first day was great everyone was moving around going 100 percent. We just have to keep that forward and we’ll get better as it goes”, said Kellan Burke.

The Magicians graduated some phenomenal talent off of last years state championship team, but Coach Hendershot and the Magicians will be looking for the next man up, as opportunities are easy to come by.

“It’s great to start a new year and get this group together, but it is a new year. We have some quality returners from last year, but it’s an awesome opportunity for some sophomores and juniors to rise to the occasion and try to earn some spots,” said Head Coach Chauncy Hendershot.
