( KRON ) — DoorDash recently rolled out a new set of updates that prevent users from filing inaccurate claims against its delivery drivers, otherwise known as Dashers.

According to DoorDash, despite “the vast majority of consumers” doing “the right thing,” users sometimes file a false report claiming their order was shorted or never delivered.

“There may be times when a consumer makes a report that turns out to be inaccurate or even more rarely makes a false report,” DoorDash said, claiming they already have safeguards in place to help protect Dashers from being wrongly accused.

As an additional safeguard, DoorDash is requiring customers to confirm they have received their order by showing a PIN confirmation.

DoorDash says PIN codes will be required in “certain situations” or “if the consumer frequently reports issues with their deliveries.”

Here’s how it works, according to DoorDash:

    1. A consumer will be shown a 4-digit PIN code in the app and have to share that code with the Dasher at the drop-off so they can receive the order.
    2. At the drop-off, the Dasher will enter the PIN code to ensure it matches. If the consumer cannot provide the PIN code, the Dasher will note the PIN was not provided.

PIN verifications aside, DoorDash also rolled out updates for a more streamlined in-app process to appeal account deactivations, as well as added faster response times to the appeals.

This defeats the purpose of no contact deliveries. Let’s forget the fact that there are garbage dashers who don’t actually deliver the order and just claim they did to get the compensation; all in the name of geo-location. Had an incident where I ordered from tumble22 and never received the order despite it being marked delivered and the driver said “it was already picked up.” So why didn’t you report that to DD and drive out here (we don’t live near tumble 22)? So let’s weed out the crap dashers committing fraud, as well.
