AUSTIN (KXAN) — The City of Austin’s Office of Sustainability is again awarding grants up to $3000 for schools creating innovative projects that will help educate students to be good stewards of the environment.

Public schools, private schools, and charter schools are eligible so long as they subscribe to at least one city service.

The program allows students and community members to have hands-on involvement in learning things like composting, rainwater collection and harvesting, planting gardens and trees and supporting wildlife.

It’s important that both faculty and students learn how important it is to Go Green, and to work with each other in not only creating projects but implementing them as well.

There is an application process that requires applicants to answer six questions.

The deadline to apply is September 22, 2024.
