AUSTIN (KXAN) — An arrest warrant was issued for a man believed to be connected with a deadly crash that happened on U.S. Highway 290 in March, an arrest affidavit from the Austin Police Department revealed.

Officers responded shortly after 3:30 a.m. on March 12 to a single vehicle crash in the 9400 block of East U.S. Highway 290 service road eastbound , according to the affidavit.

Police identified the driver as Jennifer Manriquez-Ramirez, 19. Court records said she had serious injuries sustained in the crash and was taken to the hospital where she later died on March 14.

APD homicide investigators responded to the scene and found “additional tire marks” near the crash area in the grass that did not come from Manriquez-Ramirez’s vehicle. Surveillance footage from a nearby business showed Manriquez-Ramirez’s vehicle hit a guardrail, and then a dark-colored vehicle, believed to be a sedan, was seen on the video on the outside lane, the affidavit said.

Her vehicle then continued traveling to the outside lane before colliding with the dark-colored vehicle, which started spinning. That is when the sedan was seen “going over the raised curb and into the grass,” according to the affidavit.

Court records said the sedan was on the scene “for a short period of time” but then left.

On March 27, investigators received a tip that Manriquez-Ramirez was at an adult nightclub with a friend before the crash happened, according to the affidavit. Manriquez-Ramirez’s boyfriend showed up at that same location “upset” and then followed her in a dark-colored vehicle when she was leaving. Her boyfriend was identified as Larry Romell Mason, 23, court records said.

The investigation continued throughout the month of June talking with witnesses who were either with Manriquez-Ramirez or Mason the night the events unfolded leading to the crash, court records said.

A witness, who was with Manriquez-Ramirez before the crash, said they did not leave the adult nightclub with her but did receive a message via social media from Mason after the crash saying he did not do anything but follow behind her, according to the affidavit.

KXAN reached out to an attorney representing Mason for a statement. This story will be updated if a response is received.

Based on the investigation, police believe Mason was driving the dark-colored vehicle and issued an arrest warrant for him on a charge of collision involving death by not remaining at the scene after the crash happened, according to the affidavit.

Mason is in custody at Travis County jail. His bond is set at $75,000
