AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin’s Q2 Stadium will welcome some of the biggest names in soccer next summer, Austin FC announced in a release Wednesday. The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) confirmed the Austin venue will be a host site for the 2025 Gold Cup.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup is the confederation’s flagship men’s national team championship, according to the release. The tournament is set to include 16 teams, the release added.

Q2 Stadium will host a match sometime throughout the contest, which runs June 14 through July 6. Organizers said they will announce specific match venues at a later date.

This won’t be the first time Austin hosts a match as part of the competition. In 2021, Q2 Stadium hosted a Gold Cup semifinal match, in which Austin FC forward Gyasi Zardes led the United States to victory over Qatar after scoring the winning goal, the release said.

“Having hosted a match in the previous edition of the Gold Cup and Copa América matches this past summer, Austin has clearly established itself as a top destination for high-profile international soccer tournaments,” Austin FC President Andy Loughnane said in the release. “It’s exciting news for soccer fans in Central Texas that we’ll once again have some of the region’s top national teams playing at Q2 Stadium next summer.”

CONCACAF said the draw for the tournament will take place on April 10, 2025.
