CDA School District approves early dismissal

    2024-05-14

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- Students in the Coeur d'Alene School District will have an early dismissal starting next year.

On Monday evening, the CDA school board approved a plan to dismiss students two hours earlier on Fridays, starting in the 2024-2025 school year.

The decision is part of a larger attempt at reducing the district's $6 million budget deficit.

During the meeting, the board also approved a plan to redistribute students from the soon-to-be-closed Borah Elementary.

In April, the school district decided to close Borah Elementary in hopes of saving nearly $1 million.

The students from Borah will be redistributed to the following schools:

    • Bryan Elementary - 114 Borah students
    • Ramsey Elementary - 79 Borah students
    • Fernan Elementary - 36 Borah students
    • Dalton Elementary - 8 Borah Students
    • Winton Elementary - 4 Borah Students

Borah wasn't the best elementary school, out of Spirit Lake, Twin Lake area all up through Plummer, Saint Maries & Kootenai county I'd say this was kinda a shit hole place with lots of troubled kid's unfortunately. Real worry is now those kid's will be spread out to other schools and even some of the crap teacher's & administration. Exactly why I moved, refused to put any of my children there.
