Spokane Community College selects internal candidate for President

    2024-05-16

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane Community College (SCC) had been without a President since May of 2023, when former president, Dr. Kevin Brockbank, was named Chancellor of Community Colleges of Spokane. Jenni Martin, Ed.D, had been serving as the interim president until being selected as the newest president of the institution.

“Jenni has demonstrated incredible knowledge of the state community college system. She has a reputation in our local community for her advocacy for the college programs that fuel our economy. She is innovative, dedicated and determined to continue to be a leader who puts the needs of our students first,” said Brockbank. “I am confident Jenni is the best candidate for this position.”

Martin has served as Vice President of Instruction, held several positions at the Institute for Extended Learning, Assistant Dean of Workfirst and I-BEST (adult basic education). She also worked in physical education and as head coach for Eastern Washington University's women's soccer team.

Martin completed her Ed.D at Northeastern University in Higher Education Administration, Master of Education in Adult Education at Eastern Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History at Gonzaga University.

"I am incredibly honored and excited to serve as the next president of Spokane Community College,” Martin said. “SCC is full of committed faculty and staff who truly live out our mission of serving students and making a positive difference in their community every single day. I believe SCC is in a position to continue to build on the partnerships that result in economic and workforce development in Eastern Washington. When our students succeed, our communities benefit."
