Two people dead in fatal crash involving minor driving dirt bike

BONNER COUNTY, Idaho - Two people, including one minor, died in a crash that happened near Blanchard around 9 p.m. Saturday night.

The Idaho State Police said a 50-year-old driver from Spirit Lake was driving a Toyota truck southbound on the State Highway 41 attempting to pass a slow-moving car by moving into the northbound lane.

The Toyota collided with a Yamaha dirt bike driver that was travelling northbound without headlights. ISP said the driver of the bike was a minor.

Both the Toyota driver and minor died at the scene from their injuries. Police said the driver of the Toyota was not wearing a seatbelt.

State Highway 41 was blocked for about five hours but has since been reopened.
