Stolen tiny home found in Spangle after being taken from a secured storage facility

    2024-08-15

SPOKANE, Wash. — The woman who had her tiny home stolen Monday morning has been reunited with the home.

"It feels like 'Oh my god, I can relax. This is going to be okay," the home's owner Karin Potter said.

Potter's home was found in Spangle on a farmer's field off Philleo Lake Road Thursday morning.

"It felt like a long time but actually it was found pretty quickly and I think that's really a sign of what the Spokane community can do when they come together," Potter said.

The farmer's son-in-law knew it was Potter's home after seeing online posts about the theft. He notified Crime Check immediately.

"It just feels like a good example of when community comes together, how wonderful things can happen," Potter said.

Potter received the call her home was found Thursday morning. As she walked through the home, she said she felt a sense of relief.

Potter had lived in the home for four years.

"It was built through community," she said. "I've lived in it in community and now, it was lost and found through community. That's really moving, that's powerful."

Plyboard had been attached to the outside of the home. A few of the items inside the home were also missing but Potter said the most important thing was that the home was found.

The farmer is now helping Potter remove the plywood that the thief put on it from the home.

"That's just what we do out here. That's part of being in this community. Everybody kind of watches out for everybody," farmer Chad Cornmesser said.

SPD said this is an ongoing investigations as they are still looking for the suspect.
