'Fun Galore'; North Idaho State Fair runs through Sunday

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho— It's 'fun galore' in 2024 at the North Idaho State Fair!

There is something to do for the entire family. From youth livestock shows, a carnival, entertainment, delicious food and more.

The livestock is something you don't want to miss out on. The animals are all raised by local kids—A task that takes a lot of hard work!

"Just a lot of consistency, like feeding washing him (a steer), making sure he is comfortable," said Addison Gronley, a 16-year-old who has raised livestock since she was eight.

This is all part of the North Idaho Youth Stock Show .

"My favorite park about raising him (a steer) is going around the Pacific Northwest and competing," said Avery Deeds, a 14-year-old who raises livestock.

After visiting the animals and enjoying the entertainment, it's easy to build up an appetite. The North Idaho State Fair is full of food vendors, like the Cajun Kettle.

"We cook jambalaya and it's chicken and sausage jambalaya, chicken and sausage gumbo and then we do red beans and rice that has smoked sausage and ham with all sorts of seasonings in it. It's incredible," said Bruce Boudousquie, owner of The Cajun Kettle.

There are also island drinks available from the Rolling Pineapple.

"We do frozen drinks. You know we blend pineapple and some other fruits and stuff and put them inside pineapples, kind of just for a fun twist on an island," said Shelby Gold, owner of the Rolling Pineapple.

The annual fair began on August 16 and will run through this Sunday, August 25.
