Liberty Lake clears another hazard for TopGolf location

Liberty Lake, WASH - The Liberty Lake City Council agreed to a lighting ordinance amendment Tuesday night, clearing the way for TopGolf to open a location in the city just east of Spokane.

TopGolf needed the city to change its requirements about lighting before it goes forward with the plan.

The council agreed unanimously to do that. The council will now need to officially vote on the ordinance as proposed.

A representative of TopGolf shared information about the plan at the meeting, saying the Liberty Lake location would add to the 101 TopGolf locations worldwide.

TopGolf plans a $24 million build just south of Interstate 90.

The company says the project would employ 225 jobs once it's open and bring in an estimated 250,000 visitors each year.

It would feature hitting bays, an outdoor patio, a two-story restaurant and bar with large video wall and a large private area for events.

The change to the lighting ordinance would impact more than just TopGolf. It would apply to all outdoor recreation lighting.

No one gave public comment Tuesday night objecting to the change in the ordinance. The council mentioned one person who wrote to the council supporting the measure.

It's not clear from Tuesday's meeting when construction would begin and when the location would open.
