Bring your laughs and ponchos for Great Outdoors Comedy Festival

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The biggest comedy show in Spokane's history could be met with inclement weather.

Rain, wind and potential lightning are forecasted to roll through the Inland Northwest this weekend, as three of comedy's biggest giants are slated to headline the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival: Tom Segura, Shane Gillis and Kevin Hart.

Spokane native Kelsey Cook is also slated to perform for her hometown crowd.

A spokesman for Spokane Public Facilities told 4 News Now that rain or shine, the show will go on.

So long as there isn't any lightning.

"From the lightning standpoint, that's really the only thing that's going to stop us from moving forward with this," said Matt Meyer, the entertainment director of Spokane Public Facilities.

Meyer said there's a built-in weather tracker on the stage where crews can closely monitor lightning within a 20 mile radius.

While there's optimism it'll steer clear of the area, officials are prepared to call an audible should it pose a risk for the audience.

"Hopefully we're goin to be able to monitor and watch the weather patterns." said Meyer. "And if it can pass really quickly then we just need to shelter in place and then we restart the show."

Meyer said fans can shelter in place at the Podium next door, should it come to that. Depending on how long the weather system lasts, they might trim intermission pieces to ensure there's time to see the headliners.

Worst case scenario: they'll cancel the event, and fans will receive a full refund.

No umbrellas are allowed, and the stadium is enforcing a no-bag policy outside of a clutch purse.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for VIP ticket holders and 6:30 p.m. for general admission Friday night.
