Deputies fly drone through house to find and arrest man in Spokane Valley

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. -- A drone helped a SWAT team find and arrest a man in Spokane Valley on Monday who was wanted in Idaho, according to Spokane County Sheriff's Office.

Around 3:40 a.m. on August 26, Spokane Valley deputies responded to a reported domestic violence incident near Wilbur Road and Augusta Avenue in Spokane Valley.

When deputies arrived at the home, they noticed smears of blood and what looked to be knife marks on the front door.

The homeowner came to the door and told deputies her ex was at the house and had damaged the door.

Deputies entered the home and found more knife marks and blood smears inside on the doors and walls.

A man who said he was the homeowner's boyfriend gave deputies his name, which was later determined to be a fake name, and told the deputies he had several small cuts on his forearm from an argument with his girlfriend.

The homeowner told deputies she left during the argument with the man and went to a friend's home. When she returned, she saw the blood and knife marks on the doors and walls, but didn't know where they came from.

While outside the home, deputies noticed a car in the driveway with a license sitting face-up in the backseat, visible through the window.

They realized the man inside the home had given a fake name and, from the the ID photo, correctly identified him as 35-year-old Danile J. Gadley Jr.

A records search showed Gadley was wanted in Idaho on a felony warrant.

Deputies had the homeowner and her two friends, who were also in the home, leave the house as they advised Gadley to exit the home and surrender.

Gadley did not comply, so SVPD requested help from various agencies including SWAT, Behavioral Health Units and an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS-drone).

After several attempts to communicate with Gadley went unanswered, the UAS-drone was flown into the house to find him.

The drone found Gadley asleep with a shotgun by the bed.

SWAT then breached a window and woke Gadley up.

He exited the home and was arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail, pending extradition back to Idaho.
