    Dust storm warnings and blowing dust advisory issued for central and eastern Washington

    SPOKANE, Wash. -- Dust storm warnings and a blowing dust advisory were issued for parts of central and eastern Washington on Sunday.

    UPDATE: 4:45 P.M.

    A dust storm warning is in effect until 5:30 p.m. for US-195 near Plaza, Rosalia and Thornton.

    UPDATE: 4:00 P.M.

    A dust storm warning is in effect until 5 p.m. for I-90 and US-395 near Ritzville and Sprague.

    UPDATE: 3:00 P.M.

    Around 3 p.m. on September 29, the National Weather Service issued a dust storm warning for US-195 near Plaza, Rosalia, Steptoe and Thornton.

    The warning is in effect until 4:30 p.m.

    ORIGINAL: 1:00 P.M.

    Around 1:30 p.m. on September 29, the National Weather Service issued a dust storm warning until 3 p.m. for southern Spokane County, Northeastern Whitman County and Southeastern Lincoln County.

    Warnings are also in effect for US-195 near Colfax, until 3 p.m.

    Around 1:00 p.m., NWS also issued a dust storm warning until 2:30 p.m. for I-90 and US-395 near Ritzville, I-90 near Sprague and US-395 near Lind.

    They also issued a warning until 2:00 p.m. for State Highway 171 and State Highway 28 in Grant County.

    Areas affected by the dust storm warning could experience 0% visibility, making driving very dangerous. Avoid driving during the warning.

    A blowing dust advisory was also issued in other areas due to gusty winds that are likely to cause blowing dust.

    The dusty advisory is in effect 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on September 29 for the following areas:

    • Along I-90 from Vantage to Spokane
    • Along Highway 395 from Connell to Ritzville
    • Along Highway 2 from Waterville to Spokane
    • Along Highway 195 from Spokane to Pullman

    Visibility could be reduced in these areas between 1/4 and 1 mile.

    Drivers should use caution on the roads and pull over if it becomes difficult to see.
