Avista implements planned power shut off in Spokane County

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. -- Avista cut power to the Indian Trail area of Spokane County on Sunday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m. on September 29, Avista Utilities confirmed they implemented a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and cut power to the Indian Trail area due to strong winds and high fire risks.

From 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., Avista will have a Community Resource Center available at Mead High School (302 W. Hastings Road) with charging stations, snacks and water for impacted customers.

Once the weather has passed, crews will ensure the lines are safe and then turn the power back on.

SMART! I think we would allow rather go without electricity for a few hours than to lose everything in a fire that could easily be prevented.

I bought a natural gas generator that powers my entire house with a propane tank for back up. Not sitting in the dark for weeks again while watching the food in my refrigerator rot.
