(PUEBLO, Colo.) — A former Pueblo West middle school teacher has been sentenced following a guilty plea for Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO).

48-year-old Russell Davis was arrested on Jan. 12, 2024 at his home in the city of Pueblo on numerous charges. The investigation began in November of 2023 after a report was received that Davis had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Davis was placed on administrative leave by Pueblo County School District 70 on Nov. 28, upon learning of the report, and his employment with the district was terminated on Dec. 19.

As part of a plea agreement, Davis was sentenced to twenty years probation, “with a significant amount of stipulations to his probation,” PCSO said. Davis was also sentenced to 90 days in jail.

“I’m grateful for the Deputies, Detectives, and Prosecutors involved in this case being the voice of the victim,” said Sheriff David J. Lucero.
