(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Goodwill of Colorado is celebrating National Thrift Shop Day with its annual Chic Boutique on Friday, Aug. 16, and Saturday, Aug. 17.

National Thrift Shop Day was created to call attention to the role that local nonprofit organizations like Goodwill play in helping protect the environment by keeping donated items out of landfills.

Goodwill said in 2023, Goodwill of Colorado received, recycled, or repurposed more than 248 million pounds of items donated by people in local communities.

Goodwill will hold its annual Chic Boutique pop-up shop at Garden of the Gods Resort and Club’s Strata Integrated Wellness and Spa, located at 3314 Mesa Road. The boutique will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Proceeds from the boutique will support Goodwill of Colorado’s education and employment programs that strengthen local communities by empowering women with free job training, such as its LIFT IT program, a free 14-week training that prepares graduates to pass IT certification exams that can help them get hired for IT or cybersecurity jobs, according to Goodwill.
