Monument to celebrate community’s first ADA Park

(MONUMENT, Colo.) — Monument is celebrating its first ADA-compliant park in Northern El Paso County on Saturday, Aug. 24, and wants the community to join in on the fun.

Trinity Community Park is located at 17750 Knollwood Drive and is a completely ADA-compliant park with unique, state-of-the-art equipment. The park — which opened in 2022 — features a swing set, a tire swing, a spring toy, slides, a large climbing structure, and a .25-mile fitness walking path that is dog-friendly and for people of all ages.

However, Trinity Park did not become an ADA-compliant playground until Oct. 2023. To this day, they are still working to bring additions to the park, which has added more equipment to its playground, sensory sandbox, gaga pit, and more. Most recently, a pavilion shade structure, tables, benches, signage, and a fitness trail opened in Spring 2024.

The celebration will take place on Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park. There will be crafts, games, face painting, dance groups, dog training, food trucks, and Paralympic athletes. Visitors will be able to try on equipment, play at the park, view emergency vehicles such as fire trucks and police cars on display, and get photos with first responders.

Another special guest, WWII veteran 101-year-old Marie West pictured above will be at the celebration on Saturday.
