CSPD looking for silver sedan in Chestnut St. shooting

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said it has identified a vehicle of interest in the fatal shooting that led to a crash on Chestnut Street on Monday.

According to CSPD, a silver four-door sedan that is of an older make and model was identified as a possible vehicle of interest.

CSPD said officers originally responded around 11:45 a.m. to a report of a crash on Chestnut Street, and when officers arrived, they found an adult man dead of an apparent gunshot wound. CSPD said the people involved in the shooting are believed to be known to each other, and CSPD does not believe this shooting was a random act. As such, there is no known threat to the public.

CSPD said officers will remain on scene for several hours, possibly into the evening, so the community is urged to find alternate routes if you must travel in the area.

ORIGINAL STORY: Fatal shooting leads to crash, suspect on the loose

MONDAY 8/26/2024 2:01 p.m.

One person is dead after a shooting on the west side on Monday, Aug. 26, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

Around 1:45 p.m., CSPD said officers responded to a report of a shooting on Monday in the 4200 block of Chestnut Street, near Garden of the Gods Road and I-25, and said the shooting resulted in a car crash.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a deceased adult with at least one gunshot wound. The CSPD homicide unit is currently responding.
