(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — General Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5 is quickly approaching, and voters across El Paso County are encouraged to take steps to prepare now and ensure a smooth, successful voting experience.

El Paso County advises voters to follow this checklist to make sure they are prepared:

    1. Verify your voter registration status:
      • Make sure your voter registration is up to date. Verify your status, especially if you have recently moved, changed your name, or haven’t voted in recent elections. Ensuring your registration is current is the first step in participating in the upcoming election. Review and update your registration at the Colorado Secretary of State’s website .
    2. Review key election dates:
      • Mark your calendar with important days to avoid missing any critical deadlines. Here are some of those special dates:
        • Friday, Oct. 11 : Mail ballots sent out to all active registered voters.
        • Monday, Oct. 21 to Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. : In-person voting period.
        • Monday, Oct. 28 : Last day to mail your ballot. All ballots must be received on Election Day. Postmarks are not accepted.
        • Tuesday, Nov. 5 , all voting and polling centers are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. If you are in line by 7 p.m., you will be able to vote. This is also the last day you will be able to drop off your ballot.
    3. Understand what’s on the ballot
      • Take time to research the candidates and measures on your ballot. The November 2024 General Election is expected to have a detailed ballot with important local, state, and national races/ Educational resources are available online at EPCVotes.
    4. Plan how you will vote
      • Consider how you plan to cast your vote — in person or at one of the 38 Voter Service Polling Centers (VSPCs) using one of the secure 24/7 ballot drop boxes or by mail.
      • If voting by mail, return your ballot by Monday, Oct. 28. to ensure it is counted. Mailed ballots received after Election Day cannot be counted and postmarks are not accepted.
    5. Stay informed and spread the word
      • Stay updated on any changes to voting procedures or deadlines by checking with the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office.
    6. Make voting a priority
      • Make a commitment to vote.
