How is Southern Colorado remembering 9/11?

(COLORADO) — Wednesday, Sept. 11 marks the 23rd anniversary of the terror attacks on the United States. Below is how various agencies across Southern Colorado honored and remembered the lives lost on 9/11.

University of Colorado Colorado Springs

The Veteran and Military Affairs team hosted a walk with UCCS to commemorate 9/11 at 9 a.m. The flag pole in front of Gateway Hall was lowered to half-mast.

Pueblo Police Department and Fire Department

The Pueblo Police Department held a Patriot Day Ceremony where Chief Chris Noeller gave his remarks and honored law enforcement and first responders. The Pueblo Fire Department was also onsite remembering those who lost their lives.

Colorado State Patrol

The Colorado State Patrol shared via Facebook a piece of steel that was recovered from the World Trade Center and sits at the CSP Academy honoring all of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

In the picture, Trooper Gunst reflects on the impact the terror attacks had on her life, and how it was the reason why she joined the Marine Corps.

City of Colorado Springs

Mayor Yemi Mobolade and the City of Colorado Springs honored and remembered the lives lost 23 years ago with a ceremony at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs.

Manitou Springs Incline

Various agencies took part in the yearly tradition of climbing the Manitou Incline.

Fountain Police Department

The Fountain Police Department shared this image on its Facebook page, honoring all who lost their lives and the first responders who gave theirs in the attempt to save lives.

U.S Forest Service

Members of the Manitou Springs Fire Department, law enforcement officers, military, and other first responders from the Pikes Peak Region also participated in the 9/11 Memorial Incline climb to commemorate the 9/11 events/

Woodland Park Police Department and Cañon City Police Department also issued statements on social media about remembering the souls who were lost, the lives impacted, and the heroism many displayed.
