(COLORADO SPRINGS) — During the summer, Big Lots announced roughly 300 stores would soon shut their doors, with three locations in Colorado Springs closing soon.

Big Lots warned in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing that 25 to 40 stores could close this year. A new filing in late July showed the total number of closures could be closer to 315.

Leaders within the company cited inflation and difficulties competing as one of the reasons for the closures. Between the first quarters of 2024 and 2023, Big Lots had reported sales dropping more than 10%.

On the list, all of the Colorado Springs locations were set to close. The city has three stores located on North Academy Boulevard, South Academy Boulevard, and New Center Point. A Big Lots employee told FOX21 the stores would close around Sunday, Oct. 13.

On Monday, Sept. 16, all three Colorado Springs Big Lots had a banner online detailing customers could save up to 40% with their closing sale.

Although no stores will remain open in the Springs, a few stores will still be available in Pueblo, Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, Brighton, and Westminster.

Good! Their products turned to overpriced junk over the past few years. I went there a few weeks ago and it was just like stepping into a Dollar Tree, but their items were junk and way overpriced.
