(COLORADO SPRINGS) — An event in partnership with the Colorado High School Cycling League, Fountain Valley School (FVS) announced the inaugural Lazy B Ranch Rally, a high school mountain bike race with hundreds of riders across multiple states expected.

The race will take place at FVS’s 1,100-acre Prairie campus in southern Colorado Springs from Friday, Sept. 20, through Sunday, Sept. 22.

According to FVS, the event is the first of its kind to be held on-site at a Colorado high school. The event will welcome around 730 riders across 51 teams and multiple states.

“As the sport of mountain biking has grown in popularity, we knew we had the ideal terrain, and immediately looked for ways to optimize our location,” said FVS’s Director of Athletics Geoff Harlan.

Planning for the event started several years ago with a partnership between the school, the Colorado High School Cycling League, and the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation.

“The coordination and support has been phenomenal,” commented Colorado High School Cycling League Executive Director Kate Rau. “The Fountain Valley staff, Tony Boone Trails, Medicine Wheel Trail Advocates, and the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation have been integral in bringing this race venue online for us and others.”

FVS said the Lazy B Ranch Rally aims to not only feature high school competition with teams from Colorado and New Mexico but also create a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship among student-athletes and give families, students, alumni, and spectators to experience Colorado Springs mountain biking community firsthand.

FVS will also offer a two-week-long summer camp for beginner mountain bikers ages nine to 13 in June 2025, more information can be found on Fountain Valley School’s website.
