CSPD: Help find mother who took child against court order

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is asking the community for help finding a mother who took her child in violation of a court order earlier in September.

According to CSPD, on Sept. 13, 18-year-old Caterra Poma reportedly agreed to meet up with her child’s father at a Texas Roadhouse to say goodbye to the child before Poma left the state. Despite there being a protection order in place from an earlier domestic violence incident between Poma and father, CSPD said he agreed to meet her.

When the father stepped outside to get a diaper bag, Poma allegedly took 11-month-old Zelaya Rose Poma-Davis and left the restaurant. CSPD said several attempts were made to contact Poma with no success.

CSPD said an arrest warrant for violation of protection order was obtained for Poma, and efforts to locate her and her daughter have been ongoing. CSPD said Poma is known to travel between the Denver metro area and Colorado Springs. She has also recently traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, and may intend to return there with her daughter.

On Wednesday, CSPD said an El Paso County Court hearing was scheduled regarding the custody of 11-month-old Zelaya, and custody was granted to the child’s father.

If you see Poma or Zelaya or know of their whereabouts, you are urged to contact the CSPD nonemergency line at 719-444-7000.
