(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is still searching for a 19-year-old suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash in the early morning hours of Aug. 5.

Officers originally responded shortly after midnight to the area of South Circle Drive and Monterey Road on a report of a hit-and-run involving a moped and a car.

According to CSPD, when officers arrived, they found 46-year-old Graham Howell in the road. Howell was found to have suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead. The car that hit him did not remain on scene, CSPD said.

CSPD’s Major Crash Team responded, and through its investigation, located the truck involved in the crash. Detectives were able to identify the driver of the truck as 19-year-old Braulio Gomez Garcia of Colorado Springs. On Aug. 8, a felony arrest warrant was issued for Garcia, whose whereabouts remain unknown.

Anyone who is a witness to this crash or who has information relevant to the investigation is asked to contact CSPD at (719)444-7000. To remain anonymous, contact the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (719) 634-STOP (7867).
