(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Academy School District 20 (ASD20) is in the process of submitting information requested by the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office in response to a Fair Campaign Practices Act complaint.

According to a statement from the district, the complaint was in reference to a page on the District’s website containing information regarding the 2024 Bond ballot measure. The bond measure would ask for up to $70 million from voters to support the rebuilding of Air Academy High School (AAHS) and other key projects, in collaboration with federal funding.

“Academy District 20 takes this matter seriously and is committed to full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations governing our operations,” said D20 in its statement.

The district said it has worked to gather and submit the information requested, and while the Secretary of State has not found the district in violation of the law, the district said it is conducting further review of the information on its website.

“We take our responsibility of sharing balanced and educational information very seriously,” said Chief Communication Officer Mark Belcher. “Upon being made aware of this complaint, the District took swift action to gather relevant materials, further review information, and implement appropriate changes to the District’s platforms, including the website.”
