(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A cell phone was seized on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from a minor who was identified as the suspect behind a threat to multiple Colorado Springs school districts that was posted on social media.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), police became aware of a social media post threatening violence against multiple local schools on Tuesday morning. CSPD said its School Resource Officers (SRO) investigated the threat along with the Metro Division and the FBI, and determined the threat was not credible.

Through their investigation, CSPD said officers were able to identify where the post came from and contacted a minor at a home in Colorado Springs, seizing a cell phone from the minor.

CSPD said the investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.

The police need to charge the kid and have assemblies at every school telling these kids they will do hard time for calling in proven fake threats. They have to be careful how they word it as to not scare kids to not notify police of actual threats though. Tough line but something needs to be done. Happening more and more these days. Even swatting has been on the rise.
