(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is looking into a possible misconduct case at the Colorado Mental Health Hospital (CMHHIP) in Pueblo.

CBI told FOX21 News the misconduct inquiry was requested by the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS). The investigation was opened on Thursday, Sept. 26.

The CDHS confirmed Rick McMorran, Chief of Police for the CMHHIP was on leave as the CBI investigates. Deputy Chief Dave Ramirez will serve as Acting Chief while McMorran is on leave.

“As this is a personal matter, we can not release additional information at this time,” said a spokesperson with CDHS.

CMHHIP provides inpatient behavioral services and also serves as a forensic hospital that serves individuals with pending criminal charges who require evaluations of competency, incompetent individuals, and individuals who are found to be not guilty by reason of insanity.
