(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) announced on Thursday, Oct. 10, that a Littleton student was arrested after allegedly threatening Falcon High School on social media earlier in September.

On Sept. 17, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received an anonymous tip about a social media post threatening Falcon High School. The information was forwarded to a School Resource Officer (SRO) who initiated the investigation.

The threat happened during a dispute online between several students at multiple different schools. EPSO said the students who viewed these threats acted responsibly and reported them quickly.

Falcon School District 49 communicated with parents and students about this threat and since it originated outside of Colorado Springs, they decided it was not an immediate threat to the school.

The individual was quickly identified as a minor from Littleton, and the local police department assisted EPSO in gathering evidence related to the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, the 16-year-old boy is now facing charges of Inciting Destruction of Life or Property, a felony, and Interference with Students of an Educational Institution, a misdemeanor.

“As Sheriff, the safety of our children is a priority,” said Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “We take every threat seriously and will leave no stone unturned to ensure our kids have a secure and safe environment where they can learn and thrive.”

EPSO encourages all parents to monitor their children’s social media and remind them that behaviors such as this one are unacceptable. They can lead to serious consequences which will impact the rest of their lives.
