(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — The sun is starting to set sooner and sooner as we progress further into October. Climatologically speaking, we are already halfway through Meteorological Fall as we enter the midway point of October.

Daylight Saving Time will end on Sunday, Nov. 3, triggering clocks to ‘fall back’ an hour. It is precisely this mechanism that will bring about the first four o’clock sunset of the year. On Nov. 3, the sun will set at 4:55 PM. That’s only a couple of weeks away!

The first five o’clock sunset will happen on Halloween this year, just a few days before Daylight Saving Time ends. Looking ahead into the future, Dec. 13 will mark the first day in which sunsets start to get later again.
