In the mood for some great Mexican food? There are so many fantastic establishments to choose from it can be overwhelming. So here are three of the highest ranked Mexican restaurants for you to enjoy in the St. Louis.

    Terror Taco

What do you get when you mix vegan, metal, horror and tacos? You get Terror Taco. This restaurant is owned by two brothers who love horror films, drawing monsters and creatures, listening to loud music, playing metal music, and eating the best Mexican food the West Coast has to offer. And it shows. When you step into Terror Taco, you'll have an experience like no other. The Birria tacos are one of the stars of the menu and feature spicy consommé with such delectable "meat." The diablo tacos with the chipotle cheese are great too. If you decide to get the burrito you can get it plain or smothered. My recommendation is to consider smothering the heck out of it.

So delicious! The man taking my order was so kind and suggested the birria tacos as it was my first time going/having birria in general. If you can handle spice I would HIGHLY recommend! It was so delicious! Pro tip: if you don't want all the spice you can take the seeds out of the jalapeño/ take out the jalapeño all together! Also love love love that everything is vegan!!! Alina S.

    El Burro Loco

When you're wanting some great Mexican food, you need to try El Burro Loco. This restaurant features homestyle Mexican fare served in hefty portions. The building is a funky Cantina with artsy, vibrant decor located in the Central West End neighborhood of St Louis. We serve some of the best Margaritas in St. Louis with over 65 varieties and a wide selection authentic Mexican Cuisine ranging from nachos, tacos, fajitas, burritos, chimichangas, quesadillas, and more.

Our meal was spectacular!! The mixed fajitas were amazing and cooked perfectly! The chicken chimichanga was awesome! Their chips were amazing, warm and thin which were great for their salsa that was mild but sweet. The queso was also excellent! Only downside was no alcohol yet however was not a deal breaker. Definitely suggest putting a note on the menu to advise no alcohol drinks available but overall we had an excellent experience and would highly recommend! Felicia F.

    La Tejana Taqueria

At La Tejana, you will experience friendly smiles in a warm atmosphere, excellent service and top-quality items in all of our family-owned shops. If you like good street tacos and don't mind a dive then this place is for you! I ordered 6 tacos which had plenty of flavor and plenty of meat. These are the best street tacos in St. Louis, hands down. You also must try the al pastor with rice and beans. It is so good.

I've been in the Saint Louis metro area since 2015 and I told them that I have been searching for a truly authentic experience when it comes to Mexican cuisine. There was one place in SE Missouri that was also truly authentic, however, La Tejana one-ups MANY times over due to the sheer choice in the tacos that they offer. I tell you what...when it comes to AUTHENTIC tacos...they have them in spades. From lengua, cabeza, goat, tripas, al pastor, fish, shrimp, chorizo, pork skins, all the way to carnitas and even vanilla chicken, THEY have you covered. Ghaffar G.

So those are the three best Mexican restaurants in town. Have you eaten at each of these restaurants? If so, how did you like it?
