PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 16-year-old is dead and another is critical after a shooting early Monday morning in North Philadelphia.

Police say around 2:30 a.m. an SUV pulled up behind the teen boys by East Duncannon and A streets, near Olney High School, and at least two suspects inside the car began to fire.

The teens tried to drive away but were struck — one in the head and torso, the other in the ear and shoulder.

The teens then drove about a mile to Whitacker and East Hunting Park avenues and flagged down officers for help. The teen who was shot in the head died at the hospital. The other is listed in critical condition.

Police are looking for at least two shooters but believe there could be more suspects. Police have recovered an SUV they say matches the description of the car used at the scene.

Another teenager was shot in an unrelated shooting hours earlier in Northeast Philadelphia. A 43-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy were shot while working on a car in Crescentville. It happened shortly before 10 p.m. near Rising Sun Avenue and Sentner Street.

The man suffered a graze wound to the leg. The teen was shot in the leg.
Several cars on the street were also shot up.

Police told NBC10 they believe the boy was the intended target.

Nearly 100 kids under the age of 17 have been shot this year in Philadelphia; 13 have died.
