PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Six people, including two teens, were wounded during a violent two-hour stretch in Philadelphia early Wednesday morning.

The first incident happened around 2 a.m. at 19th Street and West Allegheny Avenue in North Philadelphia. There was a confrontation between two groups of young people.

“There were words exchanged, and that’s when one male, who appears to be a juvenile, from one of the groups pulled a gun and fired shots,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small. “We found 21 spent shell casings, so it’s possible that there was an extended magazine used.”

A 17-year-old boy was hit in the thigh, a 15-year-old boy was hit in the foot, and a man in his 40s, who police believe had no ties to either group, was hit by a stray bullet. All three victims were taken to the hospital in stable condition and were able to speak with investigators, police said. No one was arrested.

The second incident happened an hour later at Almond and East Elkhart streets in Port Richmond. A man walking a dog got into an argument with two men who were also walking a dog, and he shot them, police said.

The 27-year-old victim was hit several times in the chest, neck and lower body and was placed in critical condition. The 35-year-old victim was hit in the arm and is expected to recover. Police on the scene said they believed the shooter, who got away, lived nearby.

The third shooting took place at 4 a.m. on North Bodine Street, between Diamond and Norris streets, in North Philadelphia.

“Several neighbors saw that a house on the block was being burglarized. They noticed that a window-unit air conditioner had just been pulled from the window,” Small said.

As neighbors went over to the house, the burglar got out through the front door and fired one shot at a 56-year-old resident, police said. He was hit in the stomach and was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The shooter got away, police said.

The person who was in the house was asleep at the time of the shooting and was not hurt.
