PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As thousands flocked to Citizens Bank Park Friday for the second night of Bruce Springsteen, stadium workers still negotiating with Aramark rallied for their support.

Samantha Spector is a concession bartender at Citizens Bank Park and says the dollar raise she and fellow workers are fighting for would go a long way.

“I’m a single mom and I take care of my elderly mother. So for me, to feed a three-person household is $400. So the wages — really, they help because then you’re not living paycheck to paycheck,” Spector said.

Carlton Epps, a suite attendant, said Aramark has been disrespectful so far in negotiations, which began in December.

“We’re not asking for everything, we understand corporate’s got to make some money, but gosh, don’t have your workers struggling,” Epps said.

In addition to the dollar raise, workers also want health care. Spector says the last proposal from Aramark, which was rejected by 98% of workers , wasn’t enough.

“They offered us 10 cents more to our old raise. We get 40 cents, so they offered us 50 cents. For health care, they want us to work 1,400 hours when we’re asking for 900.”

Jake Levin is an organizer in New York but was in Philly for the concert. After learning of the fight, he said he hopes Springsteen says something, given his past support for labor .

“… We need class solidarity, workers deserve a fair wage. … I’m fully in solidarity and in support of what they’re fighting for,” Levin said.

Aramark previously told KYW it will continue to bargain in good faith.
