Temple's Diamond Marching Band will perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Temple University's Diamond Marching Band member found out Sunday they’ll be marching in one of the biggest holiday parades in the country — the 2025 Macys Thanksgiving Parade.

Band leaders say more than 170 bands applied, and Temple's was one of two chosen to march in the famous event.

And it just so happens that 2025 is the 100th anniversary of the Temple Diamond Band.

The announcement was made in front of the band, completely shocking students after they performed for their family, friends, and alumni on the last day of band camp.

Though the students won’t be marching in the parade until next year, they have plenty of time to put together a routine and show off Temple and Philadelphia in the Big Apple.
