PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Four people were wounded in a shooting Tuesday night while they were hanging out along G Street, just north of Allegheny Avenue, in Kensington, according to police.

Officials said a car pulled up around 9 p.m. and two guys got out and started firing. A 20-year-old man is in extremely critical condition at the hospital after he was shot six times throughout his body. Police believe he was the intended target.

The other three victims — a 23-year-old man, a 20-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman — were also shot but are in stable condition.

“The police were at least a block away,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small. “We have many officers in this area assigned to our Kensington and Allegheny detail, and this is just a few blocks from Kensington and Allegheny. So the officers did their job. They were in the area. They heard the gunshots and immediately went to this location. Within seconds, they found all four victims and were able to get them to the hospital immediately.”

Police do not have a great description of the car. The gunman got away in a dark-colored four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota.
