DOYLESTOWN (KYW Newsradio) — The 32-year-old Levittown man who shot his dad, decapitated him and posted a 14-minute YouTube rant where he held up the head, was ordered by a judge on Tuesday to stand trial for first-degree murder and terrorism charges, among others.

Justin Mohn was in attendance at a preliminary hearing at the Bucks County Justice Center in Doylestown.

In the rant he posted on YouTube, Mohn labeled his father a traitor because he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers, and then called on his followers to rise up against the federal government.

At the hearing, Mohn’s lawyer, Steven Jones, argued against the terrorism charges, saying he didn’t have any “followers.”

Bucks County First Assistant District Attorney Ed Louka said Mohn’s actions are the definition of terrorism: using violence as a call to arms.

“The violence was the murder of his father, who, that’s obviously not a coincidence, was a federal employee,” he said. “He essentially needed that murder to get his message across.”

Louka went on to say that it’s unclear at this point if the death penalty will be pursued by prosecutors.

Jones was also asked about what he’s learned through interactions with his client.

“You've seen the video. You saw it was played in court here today,” he said. “I think it tells a pretty compelling story as to who he is.”

Mohn was taken into custody on the Army National Guard base in Fort Indiantown Gap, where he said he was trying to rally support for his cause.

The 32-year-old has also reportedly sent several letters from prison, including to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Vladimir Putin, and Joe Rogan.
