PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are investigating vandalism at a Drexel University Jewish community center.

Investigators say someone wrote “Free Palestine — Stop Arming Zionist Genocide” in black marker on construction permit signs posted outside Drexel’s Chabad House. The incident was caught on video, according to Drexel President John Fry.

They believe it happened between Sept. 6 and 9, on Baring Street near 36th Street, just north of Powelton Avenue.

An internal statement from Fry said, in part, “Demonizing, targeting or subjecting any member of our community to bias, discrimination, harassment or hate for any reason is unlawful and always wrong.”

Fry says they are “treating this as a deliberate attempt to target and intimidate Jewish students at a place of worship, which would constitute an illegal and despicable act of antisemitism.”

Officials say they are searching for the suspect. They ask anyone who may have information on this to call Drexel Public Safety tip line at 215-895-2222.
