PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Abington Township, Montgomery County, are searching for a masked man who they say brutally attacked a woman inside a laundromat on Wednesday morning.

Police say, around 7 a.m, a man wearing dark clothes walked into the laundromat at Easton and Woodland roads in Rosyln and made his way directly to the woman, who was folding clothes.

"This woman was just did nothing wrong, had never seen this guy before," Abington Township Police Lt. Steve Fink told NBC10. "And this coward walks in there and just viciously assaults her, punches her in the face."

The woman was taken to a hospital. Fink said the assault resulted in cuts and fractures to her face.

Police say the suspect ran away. They say his motive is unclear and he didn't steal anything.

And while the attacker was unknown to the victim, Fink says he is known in the neighborhood and is believed to be homeless.

"The clothing that you see him wearing, and a mask covering his face — he frequently wears the same clothes, and he does frequent the Roslyn section of Abington Township and other areas of Abington."

Anyone who recognizes him or knows his whereabouts is encouraged to call the Abington Township Police Department at 267-536-1100. Police say: Do not approach him, but instead call 911.
