PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Saint Joseph’s University student is in critical condition after being hit by a car on City Avenue Monday night.

It happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of City and Old Lancaster avenues, near the campus.

The driver of the striking vehicle stayed on the scene. The student has not been publicly identified.

In an email to students and teachers, Vice President of Student Life and Dean of Students Ross Radish said, “Members of our community are mobilizing in support of the student and family.”

The university is also offering counseling for students.
