PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia man accused of striking and severely injuring a woman with his car on Broad Street last year before taking off pleaded guilty to several charges Monday.

Curtis Moss , 34, admitted that as he was on his way home from working for Uber Eats on Dec. 29, 2023, he hit a 25-year-old woman along Broad Street near Susquehanna Avenue.

The woman went to the hospital in critical condition, suffering from a skull fracture, broken ribs and scapula. She is now blind in one eye and paralyzed on one side.

Prosecutors say Moss was going 70 mph then dropped to about 50 mph around the time of the strike.

Prosecutors say detectives found video of Moss getting out of his car, looking at the damage and seemingly getting upset before getting back in the car and driving off.

Eventually, police tracked down the car they were looking for — a gray Nissan with damage to the passenger side — as well as Moss. When they spoke to him, they said he knew he “nipped” someone with the car.

He pleaded guilty to an accident involving serious injuries, aggravated and simple assault charges, as well as reckless endangerment.

Moss is out on bail. He’s set to be sentenced in December and will likely face time in prison.

They have video and a confession and still worked a plea bargain. Ridiculous!
