PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 36-year-old man was killed during an attempted robbery inside a corner store in West Philadelphia on Wednesday night.

The man was playing a video game machine when two other men attempted to rob him. The victim pulled out his own gun leading to a shootout between them, and was killed in the gunfire exchange.

"That's when, clearly, two males enter the store and it appears to be a robbery. Two males, one points a gun at the victim's head and then there's some sort of struggle,” says Chief Inspector Scott Small.

One of the robbers, a 17-year-old boy, was hit and injured.

The duo fled the scene in a blue vehicle driven by a third man, and went the wrong way on Brown Street where they collided with a SEPTA bus traveling eastbound. They then fled that scene on foot.

The injured 17-year-old was arrested and is in the hospital in stable condition. Police are still looking for the other two men involved in the robbery.

Tips can be submitted anonymously to the Philadelphia Police Department by calling or texting 215-686-TIPS (8477). A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

The problem with this story is that you have some more menaces to society running around the streets of Philadelphia, but the story doesn’t indicate where this took place. We need to know where these unsafe area are! Bad reporting! Also, where’s the tape? We also need to know who these criminals are! Again, bad reporting!
