COATESVILLE, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A teenage boy is in custody following the Thursday afternoon shooting that struck a Coatesville Area School District bus. Three others are at large after what authorities say was a targeted shooting.

Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe says Jaki White-Marshall, 17, of Coatesville, will be charged as an adult with aggravated assault and other offenses. He says the incident, while not random, doesn’t indicate a threat to schools.

“Our investigation shows that this is not some sort of school shooting or someone trying to shoot up a school bus or a drive-by. This was a targeted event where the actors were targeting someone getting off the bus,” said de Barrena-Sarobe.

No one was injured by the two bullets that hit the bus around 2:30 p.m. on its dismissal route. The two rounds hit the bus’ windshield and grill. Investigators say eight shots were fired from two separate guns.

Officials say three other people were involved and have asked them to resolve the matter, whether by speaking with parents or religious leaders or turning themselves in to authorities directly.

Schools in Coatesville operated virtually on Friday. School buildings are expected to reopen on Monday, Oct. 14.
