PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia Orchestra musicians are gearing up for a series of concerts at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the home of the Mütter Museum and Historical Medical Library.

The concerts will be held there in the grand beaux-arts Mitchell Hall, a venue known for its excellent acoustics — “feeling the sound of each instrument as directly as possible, right in your body, in that beautiful and intimate setting of the College of Physicians,” says Juliette Kang with the Orchestra.

Kang says the venue is in alignment with the ethos of chamber music and each musician’s goal of elevation.

“Every musician loves to play chamber music. It’s so collaborative, and we work hard to enhance each other’s voices,” she said.

“We present Chamber music concerts of some of the greatest classical chamber music ever written,” Kang said — a mix of Mozart and Beethoven with newer works from Britten and Revel.

And it’s not just the performances that will be top notch — it’s also the performers, themselves, she said.

“We feature strings, woodwinds, brass and even piano with our own artists, and Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin.”

Each performance will feature five to eight musicians.

    Full list of performances :
    • Oct. 21
    • Dec. 16
    • Jan. 24
    • March 10

“These concerts are a great way to experience music up close and personal.”
