PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting in West Philadelphia over the weekend that started a chain of events that led to three Penn Presbyterian Medical Center nurses — as well as the gunshot victim — being struck by a hit-and-run driver outside the hospital.

Philadelphia police say 20-year-old Huzma Mitchell has been charged with aggravated and simple assault, conspiracy and related gun offenses.

Police say Mitchell was involved in a shootout along Belmont Avenue near Girard Avenue early Saturday morning that wounded a 28-year-old man.

Police say the driver of a Jeep SUV took that man from the scene of the shooting to the hospital around 4:30 a.m. Then, as he sped off with two passengers, he hit three emergency room nurses and the victim.

That driver, 20-year-old Jaadir Goodwyn, surrendered to police Wednesday.
