If you have lived in Florida for a while, you know that sometimes, land that was originally used for unique purposes is sold for home development. I've written about Florida's Alger Farms being sold to make way for apartments, JackRBT Farms becoming single-family homes, and Pasadena Community Church's proposed sale to make way for luxury homes. And now, separate parcels of horse farmland in Ocala have recently been sold. And some of the property has been proposed for homes.

About The Former Winding Oaks Farm Property: In late July of 2024, Cradle Holdings, Inc. sold 736 acres of the former Winding Oaks Farm property for $31,725,000 to KL Winding Oaks, LLC. The property is located at 4090 SW 66th Street in Ocala.

In March, Ocala city council members approved the construction of around 1,700 homes on the site. A few acres of the original farmland will remain undeveloped. The last sale of the farmland was in 2023 for $13,925,000 so the sale netted a substantial profit.

The Classic Mile Park Property Sale: In mid-July of 2024, Martelli Farm, LLC, sold the Classic Mile Park horse training facility (which is around 700 acres) for $26,900,000 to Golden Ocala Equestrian Land, LLC - a company that is behind both the World Equestrian Center and Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club.

The Classic Mile Farm earns 4.7 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. Many call it an excellent place to train. Of it, a reviewer named Leo wrote:

"Best training center in the state of Florida."
